Wax Phantom

Okay, well.. apparently the picture isn't working.
oh well

ANYWAYS!

Wax Phantom is a 4 piece punk band from Long Island, NY. They're pretty fucking fantastic, and have released their EP free for download. They're relatively new, so I don't know much about them. They kind of take a melodic/pop approach laced with hardcore. It's.. just really good.

LISTEN TO THEM.
kay so, here..

Slingshot Dakota

Slingshot Dakota started off as a three piece emo band from Brooklyn, NY/Easton, PA, but after the departure of their guitarist they continued on as a duo. Piano, and a drum. A fucking ballsy piano mind you, and a goddamn amazing drummer. This is nothing like The Dresden Dolls, this is a completely different story. Their sound is a combination of punk and indie pop. Even if this doesn't sound appealing, I suggest you at least give it a shot.

Their pianist uses an untraditional approach coupled with an uhhh... kind of like a "jazzy/organ" setting instead of that pure piano sound. It almost mimics a guitar with really awkward distortion. Maybe this is emo piano rock? Piamo? I don't know. It's fucking incredible. I don't care much for their first album, so I'm giving you their second one.

They're also coming out with a new album relatively soon. CANNOT WAIT!

This is their Tumblr if you want to know what they're up to.

Here's a review.

Prawn

Prawn is a fucking emo/post-rock band. They're goddamn amazing, and if you don't like them, I want you to die.

I know I haven't posted in a long time, but who gives a shit.

They're generous enough to release their material for free along with an option to purchase. So, if you like what you hear, and if you have money to spare, you know what to do.

Tony - Vocals/Guitar
Andrew - Guitar
Jamie - Drums
Kyle - Bass/Vocals

The Burning Paris

The Burning Paris released two albums, and then an anthology, and presumably called it quits after. The fact that they are not world renown is astonishing to me, because this is one of the greatest bands I have ever heard in my entire fucking life.. and I just found out about them yesterday.

They are cello, and piano driven post-rock. They are glorious, they are fucking incredible. If you assholes don't like this band.. fuck off.

After their break up, some members went on to form Eksi Ekso, but I haven't heard them yet. Probably fantastic.

The Little Explorer

The Little Explorer was a screamo/emo (with other elements) band from the United Kingdom. They were around from 2002 to 2008, and released one album, and a demo.. thing. Extremely talented, and their replay value is relatively high. I've searched a while for both of these releases, and they're hard to come by. It's a good thing this band is amazing, or I wouldn't even bother putting these up.

The band consisted of Garrick, Jim, Beal, and Biff. They played their final show in Derby, June 7th.

Fuck you, Mediafire.

I was going to also upload The Little Explorer, but Mediafire is being a cunt, so.
Tomorrow. Maybe. Hopefully.

I Create

I Create is from Woodstock, Georgia. They're a post-rock screamo band, and if you don't like them you can just go fuck yourself. This is one of the best, one of the greatest. They're seriously too good to be this unknown. They're talking about breaking up, and I'm gonna fucking punch them in the face.

The band consists of Joal Hohensee, Wesley Hohensee, Robert Petrecca, Matt Brooks, and Daniel Reece.

Your Sun Is A Destoryer is one of the best songs I have ever heard. I could listen to that one track for the rest of my life. I don't even think I'm exaggerating. Ask me when I've listened to it for the 700th time, and I'll tell you if it has lost the appeal.

Also, I believe all their stuff is free. They weren't on a label, and their stuff is available elsewhere seemingly with their permission. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hour of the Wolf

Hour of the Wolf is a hardcore band from Prescott, Arizona. They're slowly forming into my favorite hardcore band, so if you want to prevent that.. top this band. They've been compared to Black Flag, but fuck that, no.

The band consists of Addy (guitars/vocals), Hank (guitar), Pat (bass), Lance (lead vocals), Dustin (drums).

Burn Her Letters

Burn Her Letters is a screamo band from Eskiseher, Turkey. They formed in 2006, and share their music freely. That's right, they're one of those awesome bands who exist for music & music alone. Their MySpace is not in English, so.. I can't tell you anything about them. I've only heard one song, but I got all their material, because I really loved that one song; I tend to do that a lot. I'm sharing the experience with you! :D

The band consists of Mutlu, Umut, Omercan, and Gokhan. Don't know who plays what, but.. fskljaf.

What Are They Up To?
Recording & performing (it seems like). Their newest album was released last year. Congrats on lasting for longer than 3 years, boys!

Also, this band is very generous. All of their music is free, but you can buy it as well. I think it's bands like these who make the music world a better place. All of these download links will direct to their own pages.

Agna Moraine's Autobiography

Agna Moraine's Autobiography is an emo/screamo band from the early 90's. That's literally all I know. They're awesome, that's all that matters.

Marquette

Marquette, uh.. I know nothing of them, and I haven't even listened to their two releases yet. So, why am I recommending them? I was extremely impressed with one of their songs that I'm 90% sure all of this will be amazing. Emo, yeah, jazz..?.. was mentioned, but.. I doubt it. I'm pretty sure they're just.. emo.. and maybe some offshoots of something else, but I highly doubt jazz.

SO HERE WE GO! Embark on a listening journey with me, an experiment, if you will. They're from Morton, Illinois. Anything good ever come from there? Well, we're about to find out.

Megafone (2003)

*They were only around from 2003-2005, so I don't know wtf @ 2007, but.. yeaaaah.

Snowing

Snowing is one of the best emo bands to ever come around, and just.. so far, one of the best bands in general. Some people are familiar with their work, but it's my opinion that not enough are. From Leigh Valley, Pennsylvania, these boys know how to make memorable music. Everything about them is perfect, and I honestly have no complaint about them. Not even something they could improve on; they're that good. All of this opinion, of course, but fuuuuckkkkk-- you have to like these guys.

To my knowledge, they only have one available release, and maybe a 7" somewhere, but yeah.. get whatever you can.

The band consists of Ross Brazuk, Nate Dionne, John Glam, and Justin Renninger. I'm not too sure on who does what, but I know I will shed emo tears when this band breaks up in..oh they just broke up, nvm. ;O;

What Are They Up To?
Writing, and creating their first full-length album.
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss.

The demo is offered for free, but you can also buy it from them. It's extremely cheap, so if you have the money.. you know what to do.

Football, etc. & Amy Kasio

One's a band, one's a musician, both are pretty awesome. Football, etc. hails from Austin, TX & creates a wonderful indie-emo. They bear resemblance to Pohgoh, Jejune, and Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate). Fun thing about them? Two women, one guy-- uncommon for this genre. Anyways, they're pretty solid. Amy Kasio started her journey in Ohio, but has relocated to Portland, Oregon. She had her start on just a Casio keyboard, but recently incorporates other music programs & instruments. She blends electro, punk, riot grrl, and a bunch of other blanket term bullshit. She's great, 'sbout it.

So this is where I tell you that the files available aren't full albums. They're little snippets, because I cannot find releases. I'll have to buy them. SO SHOULD YOU! :D

Also, check out their MySpace's.

The Tiger Lillies

The Tiger Lillies have been around since 1989. They're based in England, and are known for their decadent live shows, and festive music. They fuse dark cabaret, folk, and circus punk. I've known about these guys for about 5 years now, but I've recently acquired a decent collection of their music. They have 25 major releases, so.. it's quite an extensive library.
Anyways, their dark themes, funny lyrics, and awkward stage persona's make The Tiger Lillies an amazing force in music. Even if you don't like these men it's really easy to respect what they do.

The bands lineup has been the same since its formation, and each band members plays a wide arrange of various instruments. Martyn Jacques tackles lead vocals, accordion, piano, ukulele, banjolele; Adrian Huge on the drums, percussions, and backup vocals; and Adrian Stout for the double bass, musical saw, and backing vocals.

What Are They Up To?
Touring, promoting, and more touring.
They've recently released their album, "Freakshow" to a waiting audience.
