Slingshot Dakota started off as a three piece emo band from Brooklyn, NY/Easton, PA, but after the departure of their guitarist they continued on as a duo. Piano, and a drum. A fucking ballsy piano mind you, and a goddamn amazing drummer. This is nothing like The Dresden Dolls, this is a completely different story. Their sound is a combination of punk and indie pop. Even if this doesn't sound appealing, I suggest you at least give it a shot.Their pianist uses an untraditional approach coupled with an uhhh... kind of like a "jazzy/organ" setting instead of that pure piano sound. It almost mimics a guitar with really awkward distortion. Maybe this is emo piano rock? Piamo? I don't know. It's fucking incredible. I don't care much for their first album, so I'm giving you their second one.
They're also coming out with a new album relatively soon. CANNOT WAIT!
